Good Morning Everybody!
Thank you for your kind comments on the Sizzix Sleigh! So glad you liked it and hope you try it out! This morning, I wanted to share something I learned yesterday...How to make an origami box. It is a blast to make and FAST! Think about doing these up for the Thanksgiving table with a little treat stashed inside for each of your guests or as a fast and easy Christmas gift for your friends!
Just add a lid and you have a special treat...
Well, no more writing...Lets just get to it with the video shall we?
Hope you give this a try! Have an awesome Monday!

Just outstanding Jim. Can I come and live in your barn please LOL

Jim thank you for the tip about the soft folds. I have been driving myself crazy trying to find a cardstock that would not crack when making this box. I finally just took a sponge and squeezed it as dry as I could get it and wiped the paper before every fold. Your lid turned out very cute.
ReplyDeleteCute box Tim. Thanks for the tutorial. Planning on a make and take with my nieces Thanksgiving day. They will love to make one of these to take home with them!!! They love to craft with Auntie Marcie and this is simple enough for them to do while the guys are watching football. Great project.

Jim - Just spent a lovely, relaxing 30 min watching you create a great, little box. I know your sister will be tickled pink.
ReplyDeleteMAGICAL - your reindeer and sleigh. Many thanks for instantly providing a tutorial and template. I'm diving right into this project. It's really got my Christmas juices going.Besides, when it's pouring rain outside, I can't finish my outdoor lights. So straight to the craft room.

ReplyDeleteI just love these boxes! I made several of them about a month ago and can't remember where I got the instructions but they sure are fun and I put ruffled lace on the 4 points before gluing them underneath! I do love your wooden knob idea! I have all these extra wood pieces and I never remember to use them like you do! Thanks for the reminder and can't wait for your next project! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tutorial. So many possibilities. Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteGreat tute! Fun project :) I think I will do some of these in a little bit smaller and use them for wrapping of some stocking stuffers. Thanks for the inspiration. Your smiling voice always make my day, Have a great one!
ReplyDeleteMixing two of my fav hand crafts!!! Brill
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute gift idea. Thank you for taping it so I can go back to it from time to time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, I'll give it a go (thinks ..... I wonder how many times I'll be watching the video for all the folds? .....). Thanks too, Fiona!
ReplyDeleteJim I love this! My kids make these origami boxes out of school paper and of course nowhere near as neat. I like it better with the star points glued down and that lid is clever! I'd like to see what you do with a cootie catcher - Ha Ha!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it showed up well on my computer but is that paint red? It looked a little orange but I was positive the paper you used was red and pink.
LOVE it ... must try!

ReplyDeleteJust finish looking at your yt and that box is just too cute. I'm sure your sister will love it and treasure it.
ReplyDeleteI love the lid idea and thanks so much for all the little hints and tips along the way, they are so useful. Can't wait for the steampunky 3D whatever it is reveal!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfull project! I just finished doing the art journal page pocket and absolutely fell in love with it and hope to do at least another one in my art journal and now these boxes are such a fantastic idea for gifts and it's interesting how I ad lib on products I don't have (adhesives/chipboard & cutter)~ I can't wait to make a couple of these boxes!
ReplyDeleteIt was a treat to watch you make the lovely gift box. I'm not surprised you would take it to another level. Actually, the little flattening thing you do when covering the lid was helpful. Now I see how such fine corners are made. I know that wasn't the purpose of your video, but isn't it fun what you learn when you watch pros make something. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteI am in so much trouble....I am supposed to be making Thanksgiving pies...but nooooooo....here I am making origami boxes...and it is so much fun. I love paper boxes, and this was wonderful. Thanks, Jim...and have a happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI love the box and will have to make some, also the lid is awesome. Thanks for the video super fun as always : )
