Gettin' My Groove On With Dylusions!

Hello Everybody and Happy Friday!

Now you know lately I've been really getting into Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Inks Sprays and Stamps.    Let me tell you why...

I'm having the time of my life.  Why you ask?  Simply put, working with Dyan's goodies is so much fun!!! The designs are off the wall and out of the box, whimsical and totally a kick in the pants!

There are some of you who may not have met Dyan yet, here is a bio I swiped from RangerInk.com....(hope they don't mind)...

Mixed Media Artist Dyan Reaveley's unique eclectic style comes through in her vibrant color combinations of inks and paints, using text as an insightful design element and the clever use of imagery in her artwork. Dyan teaches and demos with Ranger and is known for her creativity with layering color, images and thought-provoking collages.

Dyan owns and operates a teaching and design studio Art from the Heart in Harrogate, in the north of England. Dyan's mission is to introduce everyone to the fabulous therapy that is art journaling and creating mixed-media art.
Dyan Reavely

I had the coolest opportunity to meet Ms. Reaveley at CHA in what was it... July?  I fell madly in love with Dyan, but don't tell her!  I came home totally inspired and ran to the nearest store to purchase anything Dylusional!

Now, I love Three-Dimensional art.  I love to look at something and figure out how to make it from chipboard, even if it looks like it's impossible.  I mean LOVE!!!  That's my fun!  Then add to that the excitement of covering it with the perfect paper....HEAVEN!  God knows I love me some Graphic 45 to cover it with too!  LOL!  Now I'm not a stamper, sprayer or inker...yet I own the required nine million stamps, ink pads and color mists because...I don't know why...well...that's just what we do.  But, there is something magical that happens when I play with the Dylusions stamps and ink sprays.  First, It's a total departure from what I know and do.  Second, I begin to let go....That folks is worth a million Dylusions Stamp sets!  I just plain old let go and have fun.  Not thinking about what the outcome may be.  Not trying to match colors or designs, just having one of those, "Let it all hang out" kinda times.  Like who cares whether something not perfect.  To me, the imperfections make it just that much better!  Ahhhhhh!  So, Dylusional I've been lately!

Tonight I wanted to share a project I created with the Dylusions stamps and spray inks.  My first attempt at 3-D Dylusional Art....Need a bit of practice but what the heck!  I was having fun!  Of course me being the king of chipboard as one of my followers suggested...(Can I say that, or is that my male ego kicking in???? If so pardon me!  I surely don't want it to be...LOL!) I decided to make a quirky boxed scene!  I drew my inspiration from one of the stamps...Traveling Travis...The "suitcased" figure on the right of the picture below.

  4. I am sooooo excited, I looooooove this and even though I love G45 paper all these bright colors are wondeful. You can really move from one direction to the next and I think that is wonderful and says alot about your creative spirit. I my self am not drawn to the bright color pallet but I have always been drawn to Dyans work and have wanted to try it for some time. Thanks for sharing, the piece was so much fun and it made me smile and I imagine that Dyan is one proud parent.

  77. Hi, Jim, what a great piece of work! This tells quite an interesting story—beyond the Dylusions love. LOVE those suitcases especially! I hope I'm not asking a question that has already been answered, but can you share more about how you created those? I love the little buckle thingies too!

  78. Wow! You've out-dylusioned Dyan this time my friend! I think you'd be perfect for her design team! I have all the dylusions sprays and some of her stamps and stencils - such fun. Thanks for the inspiration Jim.
