Ornament Repair

Hello Everybody!

Every Christmas I share the same Christmas ornament repair advice...Because every year, as careful as I try to be, I inevitably break another one of my cherished glass ornaments.

So I thought for the season, I would add a page to my blog on favorite ornament repair....

This year, it was the dated ornament that my mom, just two hours earlier had given me.  Lost control of it in my hands and it hit the floor!  Blast I say Blast!!  Luckily it was just a corner that broke.  It can be saved.  Here's how...

Step 1:
Go around the break with a heavy dose of hot glue.  This does two things, helps you not cut your finger, but mainly seals the break from cracking or breaking any further.

Step 2:
Once the glue has dried, grab a few artificial greens from an old garland or wreath.  I just cut them out with some wire cutters.

Step 3:
Add glue to the ends of the green sprigs and place them into the broken bit on the ornament.

Step 4:
Allow the glue to dry and place the ornament on the tree.  The green sprigs hide the hole and also blend in with the tree...

Hope that helps anyone that wants to save a ornament from the trash.

  1. Great advice. I might have to use it this year. I hope I won't have to though.
