Strangely Quiet....

Good Evening Everybody!

I just received an email from my friend Nan who said I was strangely quiet on my blog....You know what.... I am!  LOL! Who knew that I could be quiet for more than a day!  LOL!  I guess I'm completely immersed in projects, tutorials and moving my studio around!

As I write this, I have the door closed, sitting in a quiet room writing a tutorial for an Easter project that you will soon see on Sizzix blog.  You know me and writing tutorials!  I have to be locked into a room because I keep finding things to get up and do!  For some reason, I found the dire need to fix a pillow that wasn't sitting properly on a bench across the room!  (It's a disease I have!  Trust me!) Good Stars!  It's going to be a late night!

I've been debating whether or not I could/should do the Ustream show tomorrow!  Everything is so discombobulated at present in the studio.  I left the studio reno project from pure frustration yesterday afternoon and walked away wondering how and why I have collected so much stuff!  It's amazing!  It's almost like a closet or cabinet filled so full that one additional item will send all the contents tumbling to the floor...actually that's happened more than I care to share.  But,when you are crazy busy and never really have the time to organize it builds up! And People It's BUILT UP!  LOL! I honestly think I would be a prime candidate for the hoarding show on T.V.  Any meetings for Paper Crafters Anonymous?  Hi My Name Is Jim and I'm a paper, tool, glue, scor-tape, die, chipboard, stamp, ink, box and Idea-ology Hoarder!  It so much fun to collect though!  LOL!

So, If anything tomorrow, I think I will clear a spot on my desk and pull out my Dylusions Art Journal and play with Dylusions Inks and stamps.  Come on over, if you care to, for a very informal unplanned  Ustream...

Thanks Nan for giving me the poke!

Have an awesome night Y'all!

Jim

  1. Jim, You don't have to plan something for every Tuesday night, we all love to just watch you play. I'm sure everyone would understand if you needed the night off to work on your studio. You've got to do what you've got to do! Don't stress over it. If you are on u-stream I'll be there.

  4. My name is Barb and I am a paper, tool, gadget, ink, sprays, embellishment, stamp hoarder. I do NOT want to be cured...perhaps I need an intervention...LOL!!!

Jim, I feel your pain. I have totally run out of room and have purged several times in the last year and given the purged stuff to the local high school for the senior class project. All the senior students have to make a scrapbook and a lot of the kids don't have the money to buy what they need to complete their project...just an idea.

As far at Tuesday's are concerned...do what you need to do. If you need to skip a show, we'll understand. On the other hand...like Shari said...it's fun to just watch you play.

  5. Just visiting you is fun. Love when you get flustered. Go purge a cabinet and make a prize basket for something! I, too, have been rearranging and cleaning my room. Added 5 wall ledges from Ikea for my paints, sprays, embossing powders, etc. It is starting to look like a Michaels store in here! Do what you need tomorrow. Don't worry about us!

    1. It's Jim and I'm a PCA...:) Oh I'm not really worried or stressed about tomorrow...I figure if I can do a Ustream on Sunday where I'm unshaven and have no idea what I'm going to do that day and people show up and stay..All is good...Just want to do it all...That's my problem...Hate not having more time! you know...That too is life and all will be well and good!

Hey what do those shelves look like Kim? Do I need some? Yesterday, I placed one too many stamp sets on one of my shelves and pulled it completely out of the wall...anchor bolts and all! Where is it? still sitting on top of the table it fell on! Such is life....

Let me know about those shelves would ya?

      Thanks!

      Jim

  6. Hi, my name is Sharon and I'm a paper, inks, tools, stamps, embellishments, and scrap cardboard hoarder. I do not want to recover. Ha, ha, ha! It's amazing how much stuff we accumulate. Jim just remember your end goal of having better access to what you want to use. If you want to purge and donate what about the hospital? Watching you work on your Dylusions journal sounds like fun. Will support whatever you want to do. Hugs my friend!

  7. Hi, My name is Barb! You can add yarn and fabric stuff to my habits! Lucky for me, I can buy with customers in mind! I have another thing for you to add to your to-do list. Do you have a link on this blog for your Ustream channel? I'm not seeing one anywhere.

    1. Way to go! I have it on my bookmarks bar, but I refer a lot of people, so I figured that would be easier. Thanks!

  8. Gosh, Jim. I just finished puttying holes in the guest bedroom I foolishly decided to paint. I could have popped some into the holes where your shelf used to be.(You should have seen all the crafting supplies I had to drag out of that bedroom closet - it's next to my studio.) Kim,s right - those Ikea shelves work very well for all those little bottles. They're only 2-3" deep. Look up shelving and storage or frames at Ikea.com. They also have an awesome new little rolling cart with 3 shelves with sides (Raskog $50 - blue or gray powder-coated steel) that's ideal for studios. Worth a look see.
Don't spread yourself too thin - if you miss a Tuesday, we'll be right back the following week. Studio cleaning is time intensive. More fun than painting a bedroom though. Lol.

  10. I hear ya! I opened my "Closet of Shame" yesterday and was shocked at how bad it's gotten. Not everything in there is purchased. Part of the problem with being a crafty individual is that you see potential in everything. "don't throw that away" is a constant refrain around here. And I do use things...eventually....but in the meantime, it piles up! I need to dig everything out of the Closet of Shame and do a major purge. But it takes so much time. Playing with your Dylusions will be therapeutic for you. Don't ever feel pressured to blog, or U-Stream or anything else, Jim. Like all of us, you need time to recharge your batteries from time to time. This has been a whirlwind year for you...don't let yourself burn out. Take care of YOU....and the blog, etc. will take care of itself. Sorry to sound like an old Mama Hen...but then that is what I am. Give yourself permission to enjoy some tranquility. Sending you a hug!

  11. At last someone who truly understands! Hi, my name is Lynn and I'm an incurable PCA! Actually you can add wool and felting equipment and a huge stash of beads and jewellery findings to that list :) Seriously Jim, your studio cannot be as bad as mine - it is now so full that I literally can't get inside it properly and have to lean over precarious piles of important "stuff" to reach whatever I need that day. Don't tell but I have even been known to use a long pair of kitchen tongs to be able to reach something that I couldn't get near too (hangs head in shame)! There is now a rack of paper in the kitchen and our dining table and coffee table are also full of crafty stash. My poor husband is very understanding but the trouble is I just don't want to get rid of anything! I need a bigger house LOL. In the meantime I am making use of our nearby IKEA too. Their billy bookcases with doors hide a multitude of sins and I have a desk from there with two shelves fixed over it. One wall in my craft room is lined with IKEA kitchen wall units (all full to bursting) - but I can't open the doors now because of the stack of IKEA lidded storage boxes piled up in front of them! Now I have made a full confession do you feel any better about your studio?! Oh, I've just remembered that there are a few boxes of older craft stuff in our garden shed, plus two large racks holding plastic storage crates full of cardstock, envelopes and old projects in our garage too! Help!

  13. Hi, I'm a life long member of PCA. I had to giggle at the description of the 'Fibber McGee' closet. My whole crapht room is like that. I'm adding some canning shelves to hold all my containers of stuff. Of course, I have crapht ADD too, find a re-new toy & I have to play with it. LOL
If you decide to play tonight, super, but if not, it is important to take Jim time too. We don't want you to get burnt out.

  14. Oh Jim... I completely understand about hoarding! Have you found yourself looking at something, then getting the urge to sit down and do a project with it? That is what happens to me every time I clean. I get sided tracked that way! LOL! I hope you have a fabulous day! I will be late to your Ustream tonight, as I have to work late! But if nothing else I will watch it later if you are going to tape it! (Pretty Please)

  16. Jim,
I don't think you can have too much crafting stuff.

  17. What the heck is double sided chip board? Is is just chip board that you put special paper on both sides or can you buy sheets that way from Graphic 45?

    I will have to google.
