Pop and Cut Easter Card!

Good Morning Everybody!

Happy Friday To You!   Wow!  What a week huh?  It goes so quickly!  Hey by the way, thank you so much for coming by the Ustream Show Tuesday!  I think we were off to a good start.  Next week we will finish covering the box and adding the embellishments.  Thanks again for being there whether live or visiting the recording...

Last night I was trying my hand at the some of the amazing Pop and Cut Card dies from Karen Burniston and Sizzix.  My first attempt into this fun world of Pop Up Cards....It was a blast!  I pulled out some of my favorite things and gave it a go....I was going for an Easter card and here's what I came up with....

All the supplies used to make this card can be purchased from Inspiration Emporium! Go Shopping Here!

First, I cut some chipboard Mini Bunnies from the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Movers and Shapers Die and adhered them to a chipboard card front.  I went over the front with Inkssentials Foil Tape and used my stylus to deboss a pattern into the surface of the card around the bunnies.

Next, I used Tim Holtz Distress Paints to go over the front of the card to add some color.  I used tag remnants that had been sprayed with Dylusions inks, wrapped them around a skewer to coil them and then glued them underneath the bunnies.  Last, I added a painted ribbon to the card front and tied a bow.

Then here's where more fun came in....I die cut Karen's Pop 'n Cuts 3D Pop Up onto cardstock.  So cool how this works!  I stamped the die cut card base with the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz -Easter Blueprint.  I glued the cardstock piece into chipboard covers added more Easter Blueprint bunnies and eggs and that was it.  It was so much fun.
Now that I have an idea of how these cool dies work...My head is spinning with ideas.....

Hope you all have an awesome day and a great weekend!

  3. Lardy, you have too much time on your hands! If I am going to have any hope of getting Easter cards made I am going to have to do it this weekend. I bought a cute bunny stamp to use, but that is as far as I have gotten. I don't think what I will produce will be nearly as intricate as the beautiful card you made though.

I really need to take my pop n cut out of the package and work with it! I bet you did have a blast! Hope you and Cesar have a fabulous weekend!

  17. Wow! This card shouts Easter. I don't know if bunnies make noises. You must know being that you're on the farm.I'm thinking you're going to want to make another pop-n-cut on Sunday, too. Apparently a lot of us, myself included, are sitting around with an unused die. Probably a greater idea for a Tuesday Ustream - Sundays are your time.Your weekend has started - have a great one!

  18. Just when I think you've done it all, you pull another technique out of your bag of tricks. This is sooooooo fun! I've ordered one, but it's on backorder and won't get here in time for Easter.

  21. I find it hard to believe this is your first go at this. It's fabulous! Such detail. I have a Grand Calibur which doesn't accommodate the big dies, but sure love seeing the projects that do. Pop-up cards are a fun favorite of mine.

Question: can you butt the edges of the foil tape right up to each other in order to eliminate any seam, or do you need the overlap to make up for any stretching of the tape the die might produce? Just one of those, "Hhmmm?" questions my mind often ponders. ;-)

  23. How cute!! I love those blueprint stamps and my local craft store said they weren't getting them in. :( Ugh! The accordion card dies are a lot of fun too, you need to try them. This also makes me think I have a template from years ago for pop-up cards that I need to find.

  27. JIM, Congratulations!!!! You passed the 1000 followers mark, it wasn't long ago that you and I had the same amount of followers. I'm at 256 and you just flew by me, that goes to show you how amazingly talented you are. Not only talented but such a sweet and funny guy, I'm proud to call you my friend.

  28. Jim, how do you think of this stuff??? foil covered die cut bunnies? Yuck! Except they're totally cool with your colors and how you put them together! I wish I could walk around in your head for awhile! I love, love, love this! So how did Shari notice you went over 1000? She's just a better friend/noticer? I feel so guilty. But you know I think you're kewl. #1 son is here "borrowing" wood from his dad to make himself a monitor stand for his computer monitor that he can slip his computer under. Apparently "the cat" woke him up at 4:30 a.m. so he did some DIY web surfing and got this idea. the slab of wood will be held up by wine corks -- then he asked if we had any wine corks!
