I'm back home from a wonderful weekend taking classes with the amazing Dina Wakley! It was a totally fantastic full three days of learning something new each and every day! Wow too cool!
One of my favorite classes that Dina's taught was "Faces." Learning how to place the features of a face in the appropriate areas so they don't look like cone headed aliens... that I always seem to draw. Here are a few pictures...
From a beginning sketch that looks like a female Frankenstein to some that I don't mind sharing! Well, at least they look like humans anyway!

Here are some art journaling pages....

This truly was a magical weekend!! Learning from one of the BEST teachers with good friends at The Crafty Scrapper!!!
ReplyDeleteNow for a really big challenge.....do a self portrait. I "forced" myself to do this a few weeks ago and I am glad I did it. I look like I am 10, but it makes me feel good that I accomplished it. And why do other peoples' faces always look cool, but when we try it we hate them? Good job Jimbo!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time! Fun, friends, and art, what's better than that? Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good time was had by all! Who are the two ladies in the photo with you? I'm guessing that one of them is TexasBarb? Thanks for sharing your faces!
ReplyDeletewow Jim, that looks a totally fun weekend, I love Dina's work.
ReplyDeleteReally like that red-faced guy (?) and the last two faces. How amazing to have such improvement in such a short time!! Are we gonna see any creations on your blog soon? Or, do you have to wait 'til after summer CHA?
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a blast! I took a few classes with Dina here in NYC and had a blast. I never thought I could draw or paint ANYTHING and I took her bird class and actually loved ther positive attitude and I ended up with a piece I love and hung it in my room. NEVER would have thought it possible! Hope she comes back to teach this class, as the idea of me doing faces is even more scary! LOVE how yours turned out.
ReplyDeletelooks like you and everyone had a lot of fun! I think your faces are great... it was cool to see the change in your drawings.
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks like so much fun!!! I so wish we had something like that around here where we could learn from some amazing artists! Looks like you are off and running with Dina's cool techniques. Love your faces! I have GOT to order your desk from ETSY. That is my next stop! Love ya! <3 Candy
ReplyDeleteWow looks like you had a blast! Loving your journal pages and your faces are not bad at all! Hoping she comes to NJ so I can learn to draw something besides stick people. :)
