Finding Balance with Bounty....

Good Morning Everyone!

It's been too long since I blogged last.  Sorry about that.  I'm trying to learn how to have a balanced life.  It's not working, but I'm still trying.  LOL!  Trying to separate out time to just relax, play, garden and take care of me.   It's tough, but I'm going to do it!  One of the many things I love to do is to blog, so now that I have a few days off, it's time to catch up...

Let's see...Did I tell you that the other morning was so delightful and delicious that I decided to drive with my car windows down and AC off?  80's music going, wind blowing through the patches of my graying hair...I was feeling 18 again and loving it.  While doing one of my fancy "air guitar" moves to the musical group Journey, my peripheral vision caught something flapping from the floor board then out through the back window....For the love of Sister Claude Marie Sylvester!!! I still had a roll of paper towels that I had cut in half for a class in the back seat.  Now mind you, this looks exactly like toilet paper when cut in half.  Maybe an inch wider, but the effect is still toilet paper... the end of it had been whipped up by the wind and out the window and continued to unroll until I had about 2 cars lengths of paper toweling flapping out the window like flags announcing the King of Siam was coming through the crowd.   And ya know...there's not much you can do about it either... in traffic...in the middle lane...On a crowded car infested highway where everyone has nothing to do but wait and watch.  Oh well... On the positive side of things...We now know that Bounty is not only absorbent, but is strong enough to handle gale force winds!!!

It honestly seems like weeks since I have actually sat down in the studio to create something.  I've been busy getting things ready for classes and neglected the need to create and renew.  Hopefully this long holiday weekend will open the door to creativity.  I need it!

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

  8. Love the story of the paper towels. I'm still laughing. I would have loved to see that. I've seen toilet paper stuck to the bottom of people's shoes, but out the back window of your car. Really? No where to hide.

  10. Riding in the car and singing makes me feel like flowers do when they get water... refreshed!
My 3 Top songs to Rock out in the car ( arms and head are in constant motion ) while driving are:
#3 Piece of my Heart - Janis Joplin
#2 Wheel in the sky - Journey
    #1 Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
I have received many weird looks from other drivers, but my favorite one was when I pulled up to a red light, turned and looked at the car next to me and saw a Grandma Looking Lady, Banging her head with me, as I sang Queen.

  16. I roared LOLing when I read your paper towel roll flying out. Sorry it happened but omg... you have to admit it is hilarious!!! I wonder if any of the other drivers or passengers videoed it... you'll have to check youtube. Have a great relaxing weekend and I hope you find time to create a little too. Balance it hard... I am working on it too... must just be the spring-time making us all crazy busy.

  17. Oh Jim, you're a tonic!! I am doubled up laughing!! I would love to have seen the faces on the other drivers. I am still chuckling. I am sorry this must have been embarrassing, but oh dear- so darned funny.

Oh Jim..do get that balance right. In our modern times, there's just so much to interest a person.Hard to not want to do it all.
I have recently been doing deep muscle relaxation with a cd every afternoon. It takes half an hour, and then the voice on the cd goes into a guided visualisation. I feel so relaxed after the half hour, that it's like I've had a long sleep, and sets me up for the evening. It also takes away that "hurried/hassled" feeling. Might be worth t a try?

  18. You do make me smile! In the UK there is an advert for Andrex toilet paper with a cute puppy that always unravels the roll to prove how long and strong it is - I think that you could take his job now!

  25. I can only imagine what it looked like, everyone was probably laughing along with you. I wonder what kind of stories observers were making up while they watched this unroll. See you in less than 2 weeks.

  26. Balance is such a hard thing to achieve in this industry and still have a "pay the bills" job. Ask me...I know. I work and teach and blog and help run a scrap store. (Add to that: married and have a kid at school...) There seems to be no creative time to fill the soul which is why we started doing all this in the first place! I have tried to make changes and create some balance this year too. Seems that there are a few of us in the same boat, the world over! Good luck to you on your journey, may you find your solution.

  27. OMGosh!!!! My giggles turned into loud laughter...and my imagination going wild....and all I can say is: thank goodness no one mooned you.....lol...... when you find the formula for balance pass it on to me cause all I can do right now is take one day at a time and write I OWE YOU for the hours I short on...but life is good to us ... we can breathe in and out smile and carry on forward.....Thanks for the laugh

  28. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, snort, ha ha ha ha ha, snort. Love it. That's man size toilet paper. I understand your journey of trying to find balance. I only have a part time job, but add a driver's permit carrying teenager to the whirlwind and you have chaos. I miss your stories, thanks for the well needed laugh.

  29. Oh my goodness Jim, I have this wonderful image of you traveling into Taylor then over 79 straight to Round Rock. I so needed that wonderful scene before me as I've been worry some of late with my son not feeling well and the medical system moving at snails pace. Thank you Jim, you always make me smile or laugh!

  30. Jim, you find such amazing ways to relax and restore yourself. I can just see you in your car traveling down the interstate with a trail of white paper following you! I would have paid good money just to see it! Hope all is well with you and yours!!! Take care!
