Good Saturday! Fun Dimensional Heart Tag!

Good Morning Everybody!

Would you believe that I am actually laying..(well, actually sitting up... LOL!) in bed sipping on some hot coffee reading blogs and catching up on emails! Love it! I so rarely allow myself to sit quietly and enjoy naturally getting up! LOL! Know what I mean! That blasted alarm clock of mine, I tell you I'm going to grab a meat clever and clobber it one day! I am! I have yet to figure out how to fix it where it wont wake me up on the weekend at the crack of dawn! Hate it! Ahhhh, I feel so much better getting that out of my system!

I think the reason for my slow awakening from my zombie sleep is two-fold! One, is that it is over-cast this morning! Something we rarely see in August in Texas! It makes for a cozy morning where you feel things are moving slower than norm. Well, that'll last for about 15 minutes before the sun decides to show it's face and break the clouds! LOL! The second reason is it was a late night! Actually, It wasn't too late, well kinda! I went to bed, perfectly ready to seek sleep right? I go to bed with my laptop blazing YouTube Videos until my body actually says, I'm done man! Well, I was on Fiona's Channel at Jennings644! Folks Don't do it if you want to try to sleep! Just Don't! Here's why..

I watched her make this tag with the heart a few days ago. I purchased some stuff to make it when I was coming home from my trip. You saw the video...Well, Yesterday I was busy trying to recreate the Ladies Diary Desk, as I'm writing the pattern for it (Almost done by the way!) and making my haul videos. So, long story longer, I couldn't do the tag! Then last night, when Fiona was doing a box using the same technique she did on the tag....Folks, I couldn't stand it!  I was up, back in my clothes and raring to go!!! Here I was at two o'clock in the morning putting glossy accents on the tag so it would be dry when I got up! Well, here is the fruits on my labor....LOL! Not exactly like hers, but I'm going to have to give it another shot today while I'm really awake! LOL!...

For the tag I used the Texture Magic Dimensional Paint from Delta.  I glopped it on the tag and smoothed it out with a palette knife.  Then I ran the knife through the paint making the striations.  I then inked it with Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain and Black Soot Distress Ink.  Spritzed it with water and let the colors meld together and then dried it.  I cut two hearts out of chipboard and adhered them together and again added the dimensional paint to the heart.  Once the heart was dry I painted it with Claudine Hellmuth's, Dash of Red paint and adhered the heart to the tag.  Last, I went over the whole thing with Glossy Accents as I didn't want to pull the Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel out!!!  It's 2 o'clock in the morning right?   LOL! That's it...

Well Better Get Up and Get Busy!  Happy Saturday By The Way!!!

  1. And you have all of those new goodies to play with!

I think you're being too critical of the tag - the background looks like weathered barn siding - love it. The red heart is a perfect splash on top.

Now I'm off to figure out how to make a steeple for a project inspired by you. ;^)

  6. Wow I can see I'll be late getting to sleep tonight when I head over to watch youtube (I understand, I've done it myself regularly, it's those "similar" videos on the right hand side that suck me in, it's never ending haha) Your tag is fantastic, love those textured lines and the gorgeous depth of textures in your colours. Enjoy the rest of your weekend :) Pxx

  12. I haven't tried Fiona's technique yet...but will soon!! Watched way too many of her videos last night after I watched yours.

I think you did a great job on the 1st try. I wouldn't have know you'd done it differently if you hadn't said so.

Do you know if I can get the Delta texture paint here in Gtown??

  17. Since I don't own a lap top, I have not gotten in that bad habit of taking it to bed. Probably a good thing. Forces me to get up and dressed and do my chores before I get on the computer. But, I often do stay up to late like right now to catch up on blogs that I love to visit. Love Fiona's technique. I think your tag turned out great. Love the texture. So happy to hear you are working on the roll top desk tut. I have set aside a stash of Ladies Diary just for that project. I also have ordered and received all of the supplies needed for the lighthouse (just in case). Jim, really we do realize how once you have created something, you do not want to go back and revisit it again. With creative minds like yours, you are always wanting to move on to the next creation. But we just love these projects and will always want to recreate them for ourselves. So thanks for sharing with us and for putting up with our nagging!!!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  20. Very nice Jim. How did you like the paste? It looks grand. Like a heart painted on a fence. I'd put special initials in the heart and use it for a Valentine! Great job. Big hugs, Jess
