The Valentine Heart Mini

Hello Everybody!

A HUGE THANK YOU for coming by to my Ustream Show Tonight!!!  I had a blast and I hope you did too!  If you didn't make it, it's recorded HERE if you would like to give it a go...

We made a Fast and Easy Valentine Mini and I promised I would blog the measurements and supply list as I ate dinner... So, first a picture of the project and then to the supplies and measurements....

Supplies-

(12) Sheets of Pattern Paper cut to 8-1/4" x 9"

Double sided tape or hot glue
Wet glue (to seal the ends of pockets)
(1) Piece of scrap chipboard that is around 8" x 11"
(2) Eyelets and setter
12-inches of ribbon
Scoreboard
Paper Trimmer
Decorative Edge Punch (Optional)
Craft Knife and Craft Pick

Pockets-

After you cut your papers you want to score Pockets at 2" and again at 5-3/4".  Next, cut your pockets to:

(2) 5-1/2"
(2) 5"
(2) 4-1/2"
(2) 4"
(4) 3-1/2"
(2) 3"
(2) 2-1/2"
(2) 2"
(2) 1-1/2"

Covers-

From Med. Weight Chipboard cut cover to:
(2) 4-1/4 x 6-1/4

Spine Piece-

Cut Spine Piece to:
1-1/2" x 3-3/4"

Notes-

Remember to glue the first (2) 1-1/2" pieces together and build from there.  Also, keep in mind that the 2-1/2" and one of the 3" pockets need to be adhered together on each side to form a heart shape.  Cut tags to fit pockets at a 1/4 inch longer than the actual pocket measurement.

Hope you enjoyed it and found something to take away and use....And....THANK YOU again for coming by to watch!  So appreciate you all!

Have an awesome night!

Jim

  4. Jim, your show went great and everything looked good. The lighting was perfect and because of your black mat your papers were true color. Love that you had Cesar there to help you read the chat - he is a sweetie. Thank you Cesar! Thank you for taking the time to do a ustream - looking forward to more streams from you. Again, Happy Birthday to your mom and I wish her many more to come. Moms are special, mine is turning 87 this month and am very lucky to still have her around.

  6. Just as I suspected, your Ustream was 'da bomb'. Dope that I was, I totally forgot about the time difference and just caught the tail end. I'm sorry for that, because if you're willing to give your time, I certainly intend to be there. So glad that you recorded too. How fun to meet and see Cesar. Thanks for his great contribution. It was such a relaxed and fun stream yet you got us through an entire mini. Now that takes a pro!Happy Birthday to your Mum and thank you very much.

  7. HATS OFF!!! Your first broadcast was fantastic!!! . . . it was not only informative it was entertaining as well . . . you and Cesar make a great team . . . can't wait to see what goodie you will be creating for next week . . .

I have a question for Cesar . . . how big was the hat before you felted it . . . as I have made felted hats & purses in the past I can only imagine that the dogs fit in it before it was felted . . . looking forward to seeing more of the two of you . . .

  8. I had to miss the live show, but just watched the "rerun." It looks like you've been U-Streaming forever. I was so impressed with the quality of the recording, the timing of everything, the content and instructions, your patience, your wonderful "Man Friday" Cesar, your creativity, staying on topic, everything. Your dad would have been proud! Happy Birthday to your Mama, too. Mine is closing in on 92 and still going strong. I liked the project being completed in one show, so my vote is for smaller projects. I can invest a few hours in a project but have a hard time completing larger projects that require stopping and starting several times. I'm looking forward to the "round table craft-a-thon." BTW, what are your plans for the tags by way of content? Quotes, little love notes to your Mama, pictures? I know she will love it as a Valentine's Day gift. Donating your projects to charities for their auctions to raise money would be a good way for you to clear your shelves to make room for new projects. Perhaps all of your blog readers could nominate one of their local charities that is having an auction (silent or open) and you could send it to those you deem worthy. I, for one, would happily pay the postage. I'm guessing others would, too. I know our local Relay for Life (cancer awareness & survivor celebration) would welcome such a quality project, as would the local senior center or high school grad night fundraiser. All depend greatly on the monies brought in through their silent auctions that are part of their fundraising events. See you next week--I hope.

  9. Hi Jim, Congratulations on the success of your first official U-Stream. You had 142 followers when I finally gave up & went to bed at 2.30am. I had difficulties keeping up with your demo & the chat. I must be getting old ;-) Unfortunately I cannot get the video to play back today. It states it is currently off line :-( Hugs, Theresa

  13. I posted this on the older post, but it really belongs here. I had a blast last night! Cesar did a great job trying to keep up with us chatterboxes! Things were flying at him so fast. Jim I don't know how you stay focused on your project and were able to chat with us. I couldn't and I wasn't making anything! I wish you could back and ready the chat board, I think you missed a lot of hilarious comments. Thanks to all who made the ustream possible it was fantastic. And Jim, get a little plate to put under your glue gun, I about had a heart attack!

I really don't care what kind of project you make, I just love having something different to create! Also, I'd really like to thank you for sharing the dimensions with us. This is a universal sharing craft, this scraping and crafting. Thanks for your generous attitude. I had fun and am looking forward to the next one.
