A Day With Dy!

Good Evening Everyone!

Hope you all had an awesome day!  I can honestly say I had a blast!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE to learn new things and today I did!

This post is pretty picture intense so hang in there.....

As you may know, I've been Dylusioning with the Queen of Dylusion, Dyan Reaveley today!  The class started at noon and ran until 5...each minute better than the next!  Dyan is an amazingly awesome teacher.  Sharing so many cool techniques and a ton of laughs along the way!  I don't think I have had this much fun in a long time!  Can you tell I'm just over the moon?  LOL!

When I arrived at the shop, Whimsodoodle, I was like a pig in mud!  Good Lawd, Good Lawd, Good Lawd!  This place has TONS and Tons of the latest and greatest!  So many cool papers, gadgets, Dylusions Stamps, Inks,  and Journals...If Ranger made it, they had it!  I don't think I have ever walked into a shop and seen a more complete selection of Sizzix/Tim Holtz dies and Dylusions stamps ever!  Yep, Let's just say I was walking on the thin line of bankruptcy!  LOL!  If you ever get a chance to visit St. Petersburg, Florida...Don't walk....Run to this fabulous store!

So anyway you got that I loved the store right?  I had spotted the wall of Idea-ology the night before on my rainy night walk and went directly there as I wanted Tim's new lanterns!  Now guess what lovely redheaded Brit I ran into???...You guessed it Lady Dy!  Poor thing, I hope her foot is OK!  :)

Guess what we got?  YES!!!  Dyan's New Creative Journal!  I was so proud of mine that I took a picture of it!  LOL  Y'all, the paper in this journal is TO DIE FOR!  I mean primo excellento!  Got me -o?  Grab one friends, grab one!  Heck grab several.  Now I'm not just saying that because I love Dyan, This is journal is plain old awesome!  One Of My New Favorite Things!

Now, it didn't stay this pristine for more than five minutes as we started spraying, and folding pages.  But you know, that is where my creative journey begins to give this journal some character!

Here is one of the many things we created in it today...

Here are some class pictures.....

Yes, That would be my arm in the bottom left of the photo!  LOL!

Can't say I wan't paying attention!  After I ripped the wrong part of the page!  LOL!

Can't say I wan't paying attention!  After I ripped the wrong part of the page!  LOL!  Oh well!  As Dyan says, there are no mistakes!  We were making art!  Oh yeah, the stickers I inherited on my shirt were from the Jimmy John's sandwiches we had for lunch.  They say....I Love Jimmy!  Perfect! LOL!

Can I say...Toupee anyone?  :)

This Picture is one of My Favorites!!!

I just want to end with this...If you have a chance to take a class from the amazing lady...simply, treat yourself!  You will walk away at the end of the day with not only a project, but the amazing gift of learning from a true artist!

Thanks for taking a peek at my pictures.  I appreciate it!  Better sign off for now and get some rest for another full day of learning with the Queen!

Have an awesome night y'all!

  3. Dyan looks like a character. I would love to meet her. You didn't show a picture of how inky your fingers got. Quit with the disparaging comments about yourself. You are a handsome man and hair is so over rated!

You are breaking me down about not trying the Dylusions.... I may have to break down and get some soon. I have a few ideas!

Have a great day tomorrow. Get lots of rest and stay out of the rain! Oh, and get me a lantern. LOL.

  6. Looks like so much fun...can't believe that you drove right past Gainesville FL - thats where I work...you didn't even need to stop, you could just have slowed down and I could have just run next to the car and jumped in... this way I could go and see Dyan too. Oh well at least you get to breath the same air as the Queen!!! Have fun tomorrow and don't forget to beep and wave on your way back past Gainesville. BALD stands for Bad Ass Lady Dy...see now its not so bad to be bald.

  14. OK...now you've gone and done it....convinced me to try the dylutions line. And if you even think about getting a rug...I will point and laugh. Rugs are stupid, I haven't seen one yet that looks real. My hubby will even shave his whole head for me, cuz I love me some bald men. !!! Jean Luc Picard, yeah baby. But most of all my hubby. So STOP already with the bald comments. Embrace it, accentuate it...spray some of dy's red spray on it and turn it into an accent !!! Have fun !!!

Ditto what Shari, Peanut, Sharon Y and Freegbird said - you look great and you can't improve on perfection, so why try?! You already have more admirers than you can shake a stick at so what's a little hair between friends?!

Hope you have a fantastic day again today and please show us those inky fingers!

  23. I can tell you had a great time. The "happy" just oozes out of the post. Love your project...those leaves are divine. On a side note, please don't get a toupee. You are a great looking guy just the way you are(yes, I am happily married!) and toupees never look natural. Enjoy day two!

  24. Loss of hair is not even a freckle on the face of life. You are so talented and witty and seem like a kind, caring person. Those inside qualities are what matter in life. I never even notice your hair as I am too busy looking at the wonders that you create. Delighted you are having such an amazing time. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
